The members of the Iowa Chapter are Fellows of the American College of Surgeons, which supports programs and policies to ensure Iowans access to the highest quality, most cost effective care, provided by appropriately prepared and well qualified surgical specialists.

Chapter Profile
The American College of Surgeons, a scientific and educational association of surgeons, was founded in 1913. The College currently has 56,000 Fellows. The Iowa Chapter has 180 Fellows, who strive to improve the quality of surgical patient care by setting standards for surgical education, practice, and ethics. For decades, the Chapter, which is governed by the Executive Council, oversees vital areas of practice through subcommittes on trauma, cancer, and socioeconomics
